What is a Bengal?

The first bengal cat crossbreeds were produced by jean mills in the 1960s, but the bengal breed wasnt perfected until the mid 1980s, and tica didnt recognize them until the 1990s. Some of the types of cats bred to the ALC that create the breed are egyptian mau, siamese,  burmese, and the spotted or marbled domestic tabby to name a few. Asian leopard cats are a small wild cat. They are proficient climbers, and enjoy swimming from time to time. They are mainly nocturnal, sleeping in dens, hollows and caves. The asian leopard cat is primarily solitary, but usually mates as a pair for life. These stunning wild cats are found in many parts of the world, and thrive in a wide range of climates, from lush tropical forests, to semi-deserts; pine forests to scrublands. The asian leopard cat stays near bodies of water. It survives scaling the lengths of trees and nesting in the dark hollows between hunting for their next raw meal.

Bengal Characteristics & Personality

Bengals are an athletic, agile, and strong cat. They are inquisitive, intuitive, curious and confident. Bengals are lovers, extremely affectionate and friendly. They are a social breed and do well with companions that can match their playful energy. Bengals are very vocal, they love to talk, chatter, and make all sorts of amazing sounds – this is due to the wild asian leopard cat in their dna. The bengal cat is so intelligent that it is possible to teach them a wide range of tricks, and they love going on harness walks and wild adventures outside. You want to make sure to have lots of toys and things to climb for your bengal. They love heights, cat wheels, and toys that help exercise their brain and body. Bengals are known for their love of water, many will seek out the faucet or bathtub when they hear it running! This is a really silly, goofy breed that tends to get themselves into trouble with their curious nature. Giving your bengal proper attention, care, exercise, a spacious, clean and low-stress environment is key to a Bengals Health and Temperament!

bengal nutrition & health

We Naturally Rear our cats and this includes Species Appropriate Raw Nutrition. There is an epidemic of cat illness and autoimmune diseases, and many seek healing through a raw food diet. Feeding your cats balanced raw meals including meat, organ and bones – instead of commercial food – is one of the healthiest things you can do for your fur-babies immune system! Eliminating exposure to harsh chemicals used in the home and as flea/tick preventative, is critical to a cats health. They are even more sensitive to any chemicals or toxins that are put in so many products today. We keep our cats internal and external environments as toxin-free as possible! We refrain from using conventional chemical pharmaceutical products unless absolutely necessary. We work with a team of licensed naturopathic and holistic veterinarians, and have extensive experience in the veterinarian field as well. Naturally rearing and holistic, organic living is a conscious choice that we refine on a day to day basis, for both our pets and our family.
